Ally really enjoys the fireworks (for the most part). She usually starts with hiding under a blanket and peaking out to check out the first few fireworks but then she slowly creeps out and eventually is saying "WOW" and "here comes another one". Tonight at Celebration on the Grand in Grand Rapids, she said "fireworks look like M&M's". This girl really loves her chocolate :)

That's right... today Ally went pee pee AND poo poo on the BIG potty! She actually said she had to go and she really did! To celebrate mommy gave her some new BIG GIRL panties that she will be able to wear when she is regularly telling us she has to go and makes it to the potty :) So... she just HAD to try them on (along with her new Easter shoes!). She has a pack of 7 new undies and at first put them ALL on, this pic is the pair she said was her favorite (it's Minnie Mouse).

Our local zoo had a free day today which is perfect for a 15 month old that will only last about 1 1/2 hours anyway. She noticed every single fountain and waterfall but had a hard time spotting every animal in it's "cage". Until we got to the Wallaby exhibit. They could actually hop out to the walking area and she had a blast chasing them while they were out on the path (which wasn't very long once they figured her out!).

Today we "helped" Ally paint for the first time! We attended the Children making art for Children event for the new Devos Children's Hospital that opens 1/11/11 here in Grand Rapids. Allyson used her big toe as her paint "brush" to paint a green caterpillar. Mommy added a few details and voila... a cute little caterpillar is now crawling across the shared canvas! Saw Dr. Siegel this week for the 2 month check up. Weighing in at 8 lb. 11 oz. and length at 21 3/4 in. now. That means she's in the 25th percentile for weight and 35th percentile for height (obviously her mother's daughter). She is now smiling pretty regularly and beginning to vocalize a few coo's. It is so much fun watching her grow ;)

Allyson has now had her first flight (to Florida), first beach day in Florida, first parade, and first 4th of July. She's doing very well and we are enjoying watching her experience life :)

First Camping Trip

At 4 weeks old, Allyson experienced her first camping trip! We went to Ludington State Park. She had her first campfire, first hike, first boat ride, first beach trip, first stroll down a pier, you get the picture! She did great :) Enjoy the pics!

Allyson had her first bath in her baby tub this past week. She is NOT a fan :( I tried a little rubber ducky and everything! I'm sure she will enjoy it some day but for now it's a cry-fest!

Today we had a follow up appointment with the pediatrician and she weighs 6 lb 15.5 oz and 21 inches long! She's growing :) She's doing well and is in good health. We feel sooooo blessed!!!

Yesterday Allyson had her first doctor visit. Dr. Siegel is awesome :) Her weight was 6 lb. 5 oz. so she has almost made it back to her birth weight. She recieved a clean bill of health and we will return in 2 weeks for another check up. She's doing pretty good here at home except for burping, she just doesn't like it much. We are adjusting to our home schedule slowly and have had a couple of rough nights that we were up all night but then last night she took her last feeding at 10 p.m. and then woke up at 2 a.m. and then we woke her up 7 a.m. That was awesome!!! She is so much fun and I could stare at her all day long.

Dave and Amy are thrilled to introduce you to Allyson Brooke Majeski. She was born May 18th at 9:56 AM. Allyson entered the world at 6 pounds 7 ounces and was 20 inches long. Momma and baby are doing well and daddy is spending too much time posting pics and sitting behind the camera! Isnt that his job? Honestly things are going well and we are now welcoming visitors. If you cannot make it, feel free to browse these pictures to enjoy our precious little baby.

So yesterday we had another non-stress test and again she was very sleepy! I keep telling the doctor's staff that she's just not a morning person (much like her mother). Anyway, she failed the test of course and I ended being at the office for 3 hours instead of 30 min. After great contemplation and wishful thinking (that she would actually do what she's supposed to do) we had an ultrasound and a bio physical profile done. On ultrasound she is still showing about 2 weeks behind in weight but is a healthy 5 lb 13 ounces (Yeah!!!). The bio is a fancy ultrasound where they look for specific markers within 30 min like muscle tone. One of which she was perfect in... sticking out her tongue! Anyway, she did pass so we are blessed with a healthy but sleepy baby. I'll be very thankful when we get to finally meet her May 18th!!!!

C-section

That's right.... she's full of drama already and running the show on her own! Wow, are we in for a ride! Today was a second non-stress test in which she decided to be all mellow again. She eventually passed just like last time after I consumed some sugar to convince her to move around enough to give the doctor the reading he was looking for. After that drama we saw the doc and found that she is still breech and has dropped. Sooooo we are scheduled for a C-section on May 18 at 9:30. Watch out world, here she comes :) We are very excited to be able to start planning seriously for this arrival. It makes it so real to have an actual date on the calendar. It's kind of fun actually. I will be working for another week and then taking the week before the birth date off. Hopefully I'll be able to sleep most of that time to "store up" for what's to come :)

Baby Shower #5

My wonderful friends at Calvary Baptist Church came together today to celebrate with me. There was close to 30 women there. We enjoyed great conversation and loads of gifts. We had a lot of fun playing the "dirty" diaper game. These are some fun girls! This was my final shower and it was very enjoyable :)

36 weeks along... today we had another ultrasound to see if the baby had turned (she's been breech the whole time). Unfortunately she has decided to remain upside down (for a baby). We get one more week to see if she will flip or else we will be scheduled for a c-section a week before our due date. While looking at the ultrasound the baby was measured and found to be about 2 weeks behind in size. She is 4 lb 12 oz (10th percentile). Due to this new information I will now be making a trip to the doctor on Tuesdays and Fridays for non-stress tests to monitor her a little more closely. We just have to keep an eye on her. So far the fluid is normal and so is her heart rate (133 today). We just have to keep mommy as stress free as possible with lots of rest and fluids. I'm still trying to decide when to stop working and I want to make sure I will have as much of the 3 months off actually WITH the baby so please pray that we make the right decision regarding this new situation. Here's a pic of me now at 36 weeks. I think my belly looks pretty big for having such a small baby! Now I know this weight gain is more me than the baby... bummer.

This shower was hosted by Amy's workplace, Heartland. We had a delicious cake with buttercream filling, loads of adorable girlie clothes, the baby monitor, and a "cake" made out of onesies, socks, toys, burp clothes, and bibs. My work family was very kind. Even Dave got to participate (I know, he's been to 2 showers!!!). My friend Heather brought her daughter who wanted to know when the baby was going to hatch? Isn't that the cutest?! I can't wait to hear my daughter ask these fun little questions!

Nursery #5

Well, it's getting closer so we decided that we'd better finish up in the nursery sooner rather than later. It's looking pretty good too! We only have a couple more things to hang up and it will be complete :) It's tough to see in the pictures, but we have added some subtle clouds on the walls and rearranged the furniture (still trying to figure out how we want everything placed). All in all it looks like a nursery! We can't wait to bring her home!!!!

The Majeski family shower was thrown by my sister in law Teresa and it was wonderful!!! We had delicious food, an adorable cake, fun games, and plenty of great conversation. Everyone was so generous. I now have my stroller and car seat and some gorgeous home made blankets :)

We had so much fun at Dave's workplace, Stiles Machinery, shower. Yes, Dave was actually at a baby shower! The outpouring of generosity of his co-workers was wonderful. The group gift even included our play pen and baby gate! We received so many adorable clothes including her first bathing suit :) The food was spectacular! It was a great time!

Baby Shower #1

Yesterday was my first baby shower! I saw a bunch of friends that I hadn't seen in a while and we had sooooo much fun. We played a game where you placed a paper plate on top of your head and had to draw a baby and a scrambled baby word game. There was Noah's Ark everywhere and plenty of pink and purple. Holly Jacobson hosted this delightful shower at her gorgeous log cabin home and we had a comfy time together. This is baby is so loved already :)

benign contractions

Today I awoke at 4 a.m. (nothing too new for bathroom trips) with a strange feeling. My abdomen was very rigid. I couldn't fall back to sleep and I got up and went to the couch and decided to rest there. I started to realize that the rigid pain was coming every 10-15 min. but the baby was moving around just fine. I just felt very wiped out. I waited until about 2 p.m. and the pain still wasn't disappearing so I gave in and called my doctor. The doctor on call told me that I should come into the hospital to be check out to make sure I really wasn't in labor. So, off to Metro we went. As the nurse was hooking me up to the monitor she asked if I was having that pain right then and I was so she pointed out to us on the monitor that indeed it was a contraction! The baby's heart beat remained at 150 the entire time we were at the hospital and after the exam we were told that there was no labor going on.... thank God!! I have an infection that can be treated and the contractions should subside as the infection goes away. It was such a relief to know that our little girl is just fine and that mommy will be soon too :) What an exciting day! I'm hoping we don't have any more of these but I am thankful that there are very helpful health care providers to take good care of us when we need them.

I absolutely hate being so far away from grandma and grandpa La Barge but today had a nice surprise! What a fun care package from Florida. All sorts of cute clothes in all different sizes :) There is the adorable little cherry summer onesie and the cute little cow print (including little ears on the hood) in pink, and the fabulous pink coat with matching beret. It's so nice to see and feel the adoration from the grandparents to our little girl :)

nursery part 3

I finally had some time to work on the stencil for the nursery today. For those of you that stencil, this stencil has 9 colors!!!! What was I thinking?! It takes quite a bit to put all those colors together and to blend a couple colors but it's worth it :) I love the results! I got half of the room done today! I am realizing as my belly is continuing to grow that I need to take the time now to get this done. I get tired easier now. Here's a glimpse at what has been accomplished so far along with a close up of the stencil.

26 weeks

We had another ultrasound today. Our doctor wanted to recheck the baby's ventricles in the brain. She had some cysts last time but today the cysts are gone. She is a healthy little girl :) Her heart rate was 144 and strong. She is measuring about 1 week behind where we are (37th percentile). Dr. Lown said that she will probably be a bit small, somewhere around 6 or 7 lbs at birth. I was okay with that, of course! I'm so glad that she is growing and is healthy. She is in the breech position and was sitting with her feet up by her ears. It was a bit more difficult to get a great picture today but here's what we've got....
